D&I Liaison Volunteer Opportunity

SCGC Diversity and Inclusion Liaison  Volunteer Opportunity

SCGC is currently seeking a volunteer to serve as Diversity and Inclusion Liaison for the 2023 season. This position will support SCGC by helping implement WGI's diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy to ensure it is integrated into the fabric of SCGC culture, value and business model. The Diversity and Inclusion Liaison will support SCGC in creating and delivering initiatives designed to build a culture of inclusion and ensure the long-term sustainability of D&I efforts. The successful candidate will be a champion for D&I, successfully build and maintain relationships with our membership, and design and execute creative ways to develop WGI's approach to D&I as we continue to scale our efforts.

Responsibilities Include:

Manage the implementation of WGI programs and initiatives that further SCGC's D&I strategy and contribute to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace

Oversee D&I communication logistics as directed by the President

In close collaboration with SCGC Board of Directors, support drafting of the strategic plan through research, gathering data, and other related activities

Update and maintain diversity and inclusion-related content on SCGC's website

Assist the Board of Directors in the planning and delivery of high-quality training and awareness building

Serve as a liaison as directed between the WGI Diversity and Inclusion Committee and SCGC Board of Directors, Staff and member units

Assist in responding appropriately and quickly to requests for support regarding D&I

Monitor work plan and strategic plan to ensure goals are met in a timely fashion. Report on overall progress to ensure that learning and results are utilized to improve D&I programs and processes

Promote a work environment that is accepting, emphasizes teamwork, a respect for differences, and giving constructive feedback

Understand organizational dynamics and actively work to cultivate D&I allies across the organization

Serve as acting Diversity and Inclusion Liaison representing Diversity & Inclusion at SCGC meetings and events as needed

Exercise and maintain confidentiality of information as it pertains to the organization, diversity initiatives, and circuit leadership

Perform other duties as required


Minimum 3 years of SCGC unit management and/or technically relevant work experience

Bachelor?s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in diversity and inclusion, including familiarity with key concepts (e.g. cultural competence, unconscious bias, etc.) Practical experience designing and/or implementing D&I programs preferred

Shows a committed and proactive approach to diversity and inclusion and to own personal development in this area

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment

Ability to handle confidential information and materials with discretion

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams, develop presentations and trainings for small to large audiences, and facilitate team discussions

Experience creating and managing project plans to support effective implementation of programs and initiatives

Experience coordinating events, managing logistics, identifying speakers, and developing agendas/materials

English proficiency required; foreign language skills a plus

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
